Of Nigerian and Finnish descent, Ima Iduozee (b. 1988) is a filmmaker, choreographer and DJ based in Helsinki. His work explores themes of migration, identity and the intersections of culture within society and the communities around him, to weave intimate stories of magic, perseverance and hope. His short films often combine fiction with archival footage, rendering moments of timeless beauty and connecting the African Diaspora with the continent, exploring what it means to be caught between multiple histories and places.
Iduozee’s latest short film After We’re Gone had its international premier at San Francisco International Film Festival 2023. His debut choreography, This is the Title, premiered in 2012 and went on to garner international acclaim, touring in 15 countries across Europe, North America and Asia. In 2023 Iduozee received the Artist Of The Year Award from the city of Helsinki. He holds a BF in modern dance from Helsinki Arts University.
