b. 1980
Florian Meisenberg was born in 1980 in Berlin. He lives and works is New York. His work oscillates between and regularly encompasses painting, installation and film. Meisenberg’s paintings simultaneously conjure lightness and depth; they vary greatly in density and rendering, employing multi-layered compositions that display themes of digital apprehension and abstract interiors alongside cartoonish figures and scrawling statements. His delicate, oblique films capture intrigue in the banal moments of contemporary existance.
Meisenberg's work has been featured in exhibitions at Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt; Kunstpalais Erlangen; Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne; Kunsthalle Düsseldorf; Kasseler Kunstverein; Ludwig Forum, Aachen; Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen; Kunstwerke Berlin (all in Germany); Museum Kunsten in Aalborg, Denmark; Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Oslo, Norway; ICA Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, USA; Queens Museum of Art, USA; Simone Subal Gallery, New York, NYC; Francois Ghebaly Gallery, LA and Mendes Wood, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
