Pedro Reyes’s exhibition at Lisson Gallery London continues his investigation into the history of statuary, as rst presented in New York last year. A series of new sculptures – made from volcanic stone, marble, stainless steel, alabaster, bronze and sandstone – resonates with both modern and ancient sources, with references as diverse as Pre-Colombian and Mayan art to contemporary British sculptors, including Reg Butler, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. Created on a more intimate scale with a light and re ned color palette, the plinth-based sculptures combine elements of contemporary and ancient with guration and abstraction. The works will be surrounded by a site-speci c wall installation – an ornamental frieze nearly two meters high.

Jul 4 - Aug 18, 2018
A new body of work makes up Angela de la Cruz’s exhibition at Lisson Gallery, her first solo presentation with the gallery in London since 2011. Titled ‘Bare’, the exhibition explores the vulnerability we are subjected to in the contemporary world – at a universal and individual level – and tries to offer a solution to the underlying uncertainty that represents our era. As a result of recent political events, de la Cruz transforms the gallery space into an installation that emits the sense of a deserted, closed market; a post-apocalyptic scene evoking unease and apprehension.
