Nov 25, 2017 - Feb 17, 2018
Herrera returns to Lisson Gallery in London with an exhibition
of entirely new paintings. The show firmly cements Herrera as
a leading figure within the international history of modernist
abstraction and coincides with a presentation of ‘Lines of Sight’,
the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York’s acclaimed
exhibition of Herrera’s work, touring to Kunstsammlung NRW
(K20) in Düsseldorf, Germany this December.

Pedro Reyes’s exhibition at Lisson Gallery London continues his investigation into the history of statuary, as rst presented in New York last year. A series of new sculptures – made from volcanic stone, marble, stainless steel, alabaster, bronze and sandstone – resonates with both modern and ancient sources, with references as diverse as Pre-Colombian and Mayan art to contemporary British sculptors, including Reg Butler, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. Created on a more intimate scale with a light and re ned color palette, the plinth-based sculptures combine elements of contemporary and ancient with guration and abstraction. The works will be surrounded by a site-speci c wall installation – an ornamental frieze nearly two meters high.
