ARTISTS IN FOCUS
Mar 17 - Dec 2, 2018
The 2018 Collections galleries re-hang focuses on individual artists who each have a distinct body of work within our Permanent Collection. Each of our themed collection rooms will feature multiple works from a single contemporary artist, alongside highlights from the Gallery's renownded Garman Ryan Collection. Artists from our Permanent Collection represented include Frank Auerbach, Rachel Goodyear, Chantal Joffe and George Shaw.

CORNELIA PARKER : THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER (2015)
Mar 17 - Dec 2, 2018
A recent acquisition to our Permanent Collection, Cornelia Parker's print series Thirty Pieces of Silver will be on display in our Floor 2 temporary exhibition space, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Royal Academy. Parker, who graduated from Wolverhampton Polytechnic, was elected a Royal Academician in 2010.

MAHTAB HUSSAIN : MITTI KA GHAR
May 25, 2018 - Mar 24, 2019
Inspired by traditional Kashmiri mud houses that can still be found in parts of the region, Mahtab Hussain has been working with local communities to construct, furnish and decorate a house within the gallery and to explore ideas of home. Over the coming months, visitors can watch the house develop.

GRACE A WILLIAMS : INTERMISSION
Aug 10 - Nov 11, 2018
Grace A Williams uses found and archival footage to explore feminist power dynamics in the history of magic, mythology and film. Intermission is a two-screen projection focused on the gaze of two unknown black men whose enigmatic portraits appear on nineteenth century photographic slides found by the artist.

LILY WALES : BLUE STREAK
Sep 17 - Dec 9, 2018
Working with photomontage, Birmingham-based artist Lily Wales creates 2D and sculptural works that reference the language of military weaponry. During her residency, Lily will explore the history of 'Blue Streak', a ballistic missile developed in Britain in the late 1950s. The key that formed part of the firing mechanism was manufactured locally by Century Locks in Willenhall.

ELIZABETH MAGILL : HEADLAND
Oct 17, 2018 - Jan 20, 2019
Elizabeth Magill is one of her generation's leading painters and this exhibition will present a new body of work. Although predominately living and working in London, Magill's work is redolent of place - and in particular, drawing from her early beginnings in the North of Ireland. Her approach to image making is always experimental, allowing for previous attemps to give way to newer ones to form an unfolding openness.

SARAH TAYLOR SILVERWOOD : DAPHNE
Jan 19 - May 12, 2019
Sarah Taylor Silverwood uses drawing and language as material to produce publications, animation and installation works. Daphne considers the relationship between women and language, taking the ancient Greek myth of Daphne and Apollo as a focus. This early story, which traces Apollo's pursuit of Daphne and her transformation into laurel tree, has been retold over centuries in many different art forms.
