JACOB BUCKLAND : LANDSCAPES
Sep 29 - Nov 17, 2018
Paintings of Welsh landscape and nature, based on direct observation and memory. Work which explores colour and mark making, focusing on variations in weather and season.

This series of paintings is the result of visits to some of the mountains, woodlands, wetlands, and rivers of Wales. Each piece represents a period of time spent looking and painting in the field. Elements of studio work serve to balance compositions or develop formal qualities.

Colour washes are left to chance and combined with more precise lines, as a way of layering and reflecting both the structural and ephemeral qualities found in nature.

Nov 24, 2018 - Jan 12, 2019
The title was the short conversation Helen Elliott had with artist Stan Rosenthal in 1990. Although she was obsessed by painting from an early age, she’d been asked to leave the art class at school and told she couldn’t draw. This lack of art education let Helen explore her imagination in depth and experiment to develop a way of painting that is unique and memorable.

MALCOLM RYAN : NIGHT PAINTINGS
Dec 1, 2018 - Jan 26, 2019
A selection of paintings spanning forty years from the 1970s until the present, drawn from Malcolm Ryan’s wide subject matter. The paintings are a kind of night journey, we are escorted to view scenes of domestic intimacy, to travel through night landscapes and to view the busy street scenes of great cities. We are made to become aware, to view our everyday lives imbued with the poetry of the painter’s eye.

LITTLE BIG ART : PLAYTIME
Dec 8, 2018 - Jan 26, 2019
The best things start with the smallest brick… and then get bigger, literally. Little Big Art have created galleries in exhibition centres, castles and UNESCO World Heritage sites, and even had an exhibition attended by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen - the billionaire owner of The Lego Group. Little Big Art take the wonderful world of play and supersize it, reigniting the childish euphoria of cracking open that new toy on Christmas Day.
