Pippy Houldsworth Gallery is delighted to present Luke Diiorio’s second solo exhibition with the gallery from 28 April to 3 June 2017. The exhibition comprises a new series of paintings which further explore the formal properties of folding and how the fold itself has become a new type of surface.

Running from 8 June to 29 July, From a distance will look at how Ayan Farah, Tania Kovats and Bill Woodrowengage with the natural world in their work by putting the viewer in close proximity with far-flung or otherwise inaccessible locations. Addressing notions of globalisation, mapping and climate change, the exhibition will also assess the increasingly fraught relationship between mankind and nature by highlighting the natural world’s susceptibility to change.

Pippy Houldsworth Gallery is pleased to present a new ceramic work in The Box by London-based artist Caroline Achaintre. Stoner (2017) manifests Achaintre’s ongoing interest in capturing the ‘middle-ground’ or 'the-in-between’. Drawing upon the tradition of tribal masks, Achaintre uses a simple, visual register to conjure up the crude impression of a face fluctuating between figuration and abstraction. By retaining the malleability of the clay in its unfired form, Achaintre emphasises this process of metamorphosis, with the title of the work alluding to a lucid, drug-induced state of being.
