The Freud Museum is proud to present the drawings of American artist, Ida Applebroog, from her 'Mercy Hospital' series.
 
Works by the celebrated American painter and feminist pioneer whose work explores themes of violence and power, gender politics and women’s sexuality. In association with Hauser & Wirth.

IDA APPLEBROOG: BETWEEN CATASTROPHE

This talk draws on the feminist artist Ida Applebroog’s Mercy Hospital drawings to discuss her work’s relationship to themes of breakdown, catastrophe, and ageing.This is an accompanying event to the Freud Museum’s current exhibition, ‘Ida Applebroog: Mercy Hospital’, on until 7 June 2020.
 
Jo Applin is Reader and Head of the History of Art Department at The Courtauld Institute of Art, London. She has published widely on contemporary art, particularly on the work Ida Applebroog and her ‘Mercy Hospital’ series.
