EMMA SMITH : EUPHONIA
Apr 27 - Jun 24, 2018
Private view Thu Apr 26 6pm - 10pm
Bluecoat’s gallery is transformed into a sonic chamber for collective singing in this ground-breaking new sound installation by Emma Smith, based on the music of social communication. Euphonia is an interactive sound work illustrating how we unconsciously make music through interlocking rhythms, pitch and tone when we engage in friendly interactions - such as chitchat with friends. Smith will draw from sounds created by the many people who visit Bluecoat on a daily basis –parents and babies, visitors to the café and the choirs and groups who rehearse there in the evenings.

OK FUTURE - LUCY SUGGATE & CONNOR S
May 10, 2018 7:00pm - 8:30pm talk/event
Guided by a cyborg voice, OK Future asks us to imagine a future performance space. Part installation art, a social choreography, a movement class, a and mindfulness guide, the audience is invited to watch and simultaneously make the work.

A fully immersive public movement, a social choreography, a potential future performing space, OK Future attempts to simultaneously ask a series of questions. Can we create a performance space that fulfils everybody's needs? Would society be better if we danced everyday? Is the next revolution a perceptual one? Through a series of invited actions and reflective questions the audience will begin to unlock and expand their own performance and societal behaviours.

Performances at 7pm and 8:30pm.
