TOYIN OJIH ODUTOLA : A COUNTERVAILING THEORY
Mar 26 - Jul 26, 2020
The first-ever UK exhibition by Nigerian-American artist Toyin Ojih Odutola, this epic cycle of new work will explore an imagined ancient myth, with an immersive soundscape by artist Peter Adjaye.

Toyin Ojih Odutola, recognising the pen as a ‘writing tool first’, plays with the idea that drawing can be a form of storytelling. Working exclusively with drawing materials including pastel and charcoal, she approaches her process of drawing as an investigative practice.

THE BARBICAN IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19
ongoing - check website for updates
To close our building was a poignant moment for us all. We’ll be back as soon as we can and are already looking forward to the moment we can reopen our doors.
All events taking place until Tuesday 30 June 2020 have now been cancelled or postponed. You can sign up to our mailing list to make sure you’re first to know.
Until then, we may have swapped our concrete backdrop for laptop screens on desks, sofas and kitchen tables across London and beyond, but we’re still very much here.
Our focus now is on finding ways we can bring everything you love about the Barbican from our homes to yours, wherever you are.
We’ll be doing this over the coming weeks and months on our digital channels and we would love for you to join us, so do keep checking our website. if you find yourself in need of some inspiration – or distraction – you can always find something to Read, Watch or Listen to here: www.barbican.org.uk/read-watch-listen
We’ll be on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram too if you want to say hello or find out what we’re planning next.
