Posthuman feminist inquiry into the agency of water by Sofia Gavrilova, Maaike Anne Stevens, and Giovanni Vetere; curated by Sasha Burkhanova-Khabadze.
The exhibition departs from the work of posthumanist feminist thinker Astrida Neimanis. In the “modem West”, Neimanis observes, there is a tendency to reduce water to either a commodity or an abstraction — dismissing the actuality of water. But how can we reimagine water — and accept the entanglement of humans and water, that constitutes both parties, and gives rise to every possibility that is otherwise latent in both water and ourselves? The exhibition thus presents three artistic perspectives on human bodies as comprised, transformed and dissolved by different concepts water — speculating on the political and ethical consequences for each scenario.
