CATRINE VAL : THE CHANGING ROOM

Commissioned by Departure Lounge, Catrine Val has created arguably some of the most unexpected images ever made in Luton. Working with the women who serve and prepare food, or sell luggage in the town's indoor market, this evolving project has set up a fashion studio where women can create an imagined or parallel persona for themselves. Yva Jung’s exhibition ‘Monday Morning’ commenced in late April with a performance at the Luton Mall, where shoppers and passers-by were offered sculptures - made with morning dew - in exchange for their stories with which Jung will create new works that will form part of her exhibition at Departure Lounge.
Monday Morning, is Jung’s first UK solo exhibition and brings together photographs, video and sculptures The exhibition will conclude on Saturday July 13 (1.00 - 3.00 pm) with a closing party where Jung will present illustrated booklets recording her performance and the stories she has collected. Supported by Arts Council England
