This July S│2 London presents works by British sculptor Ewen Henderson (1934-2000) in Gallery Two. Henderson attended Camberwell College of Art in 1965 to study ceramics under Lucie Rie and Hans Coper. Though academically trained, Henderson’s practice quickly transformed into new expressive style with irregular, asymmetrical forms and experimental glazes and textures. Clay, or as Henderson called it, ‘fluxed earth,’ became the material that the artist would continuously challenge and reinvent throughout his life. His work can be found in the permanent collections of some of the world’s major museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, The Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Apr 11 - May 24, 2019
This April, S│2 London will present the first UK exhibition of the influential Brazilian artist Flávio de Carvalho. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1899, Flávio de Carvalho was a painter, sculptor, scenographer, dress designer, journalist, writer and playwright. A veritable polymath, Carvalho used his many talents and eccentric, irreverent forms of expressions to shock the bourgeoisie.

Apr 12 - May 24, 2019
In Gallery Two this April, S│2 London presents a solo exhibition of paintings by Brazilian artist Amadeo Luciano Lorenzato. Born in 1900, Lorenzato was a largely self-taught, outsider artist who’s richly textured and intimate paintings portray observations of everyday life. This exhibition comes at a time when the artist’s work is being reassessed within the context of Brazilian modernism and international art history.
