ITALIAN POST-WAR SCULPTURE : BETWEEN FIGURATION AND ABSTRACTION
Oct 4 - Nov 17, 2017
ROBILANT+VOENA presents an itinerary in Italian Post-war Sculpture, through a selection of crucial personalities mirroring the antagonism and dialogue between the classic and the modern, characteristic of this context. Figuration and abstraction, traditional media and radical experimentations are the poles across which Italian Post-war Sculpture gives birth to a new generation of ideas.

Almost an emblem of an ideal and tangible “reconstruction” after the disillusionment of World War II, and the related destruction of technical and executive conventions, sculpture finds a new strong centrality in Italian art of the Post-war period. Plural and branched paths form the lines of its development, between abstraction, figuration, new materials, and conceptual hypotheses. A context of exceptional wealth and inventive vitality, confirming the central role of Italian creativity in a period among the most fruitful in the history of contemporary art.

PIETRO CONSAGRA : FRONTAL SCULPTURE 1947-1967
Sep 27 - Nov 16, 2018
Robilant+Voena is pleased to present the first solo exhibition of the Italian sculptor Pietro Consagra in London, realised in collaboration with the Archivio Pietro Consagra. Curated by Francesca Pola, the show will highlight the work of Consagra from 1947 to 1967: the first two crucial creative decades of his activity, which saw his affirmation as one of the pioneers in the renewal of international modern sculpture.
