Late Klee explores the diversity of the Bauhaus master’s practice from the early 1930s until 1940. Presenting graphic works, abstract compositions, and figurative pieces depicting masklike faces, the exhibition testifies to Klee’s restless drive to experiment with forms and materials, including adhesives, grease, oil, chalk, and watercolor.

BRIDGET RILEY : STUDIES: 1984–1997
Reopening Monday, June 15
This exhibition presents studies that show Riley’s movement from “stripes” to “rhomboids,” reflecting the connection between the writings of Klee and her own understanding of abstract painting. As Riley notes, “Paul Klee was of seminal importance to me because he showed me what abstraction meant.”
