HOLLY HENDRY: CENOTAPH
Jun 21 - Oct 13, 2019
As part of the Liverpool Biennial touring programme, Holly Hendry's large-scale public artwork Cenotaph, inspired by the artist's interest in the underground architecture of cities, will find a new home outside The Tetley. Hendry's sculptures look at the back of things, as she says "open cracks where you see the gooey insides". The artist is interested in the anatomy of the architecture of our surroundings and the innards and plumbing of the city itself.

Feb 7 - May 10, 2020
'Hold Your Horses' speaks to the traditions of history-making and the experience of everyday life. Makhacheva's position isn't nostalgic; instead she creates stories and even superheroes through a playful process of mixing, borrowing and assimilation. Often drawing from daily life in Dagestan and the Caucasus region of Russia, Makhacheva reflects on the day-to-day rituals, celebrations and instances of everyday heroism with a playful and humorous tone.

EMII ALRAI : THE HIGH DAM
Feb 7 - May 10, 2020
'The High Dam' is a new solo exhibition by Leeds-based artist Emii Alrai. Alrai's practice is informed by inherited nostalgia, geographical identity and post-colonial museum practices of collecting and displaying objects. Focusing on ancient mythologies from the Middle East alongside personal oral histories of Iraq, Alrai weaves together narratives by forging artefacts and visualising residues of cultural collision.
