Mar 8 - Aug 20, 2017
This exhibition presents a renewed examination of two iconic architectural schemes proposed for the same site in the City of London. Commissioned by architectural patron and developer Lord Peter Palumbo, Mies van der Rohe’s unrealised and highly contested Mansion House Square project will be explored alongside its built successor, James Stirling Michael Wilford & Associates’ newly listed Number One Poultry.

Presented together for the first time and through never before seen objects and drawings, Mies van der Rohe & James Stirling: Circling the Square offers a unique opportunity to draw comparisons between the design methods of two of the most highly recognised architects of the 20th century, and to trace the continuity in purpose and approach that unites two seemingly dissimilar architectural creations.

DISAPPEAR HERE
May 2 - Oct 7, 2018
'Disappear Here: On perspective and other kinds of space'.
From the Renaissance to the present day, perspective has been a constant in architectural writing and illustration. This exhibition explores how perspective spans truth and illusion, linking the disciplines of art, architecture and mathematics.
Informed by RIBA’s vast collection, Sam Jacob Studio has redesigned the Architecture Gallery at 66 Portland as a conceptual, interactive space, where the visitor becomes a participant within the space of representation, while viewing original drawings and rare books by some of the most talented designers in history.
This is the first solo exhibition in an institution by Sam Jacob Studio.
