Throughout the year, Zabludowicz Collection will be presenting Virtual Reality works in a dedicated environment. 360 gives a unique opportunity to see how artists are experimenting with this new technology in increasingly ambitious ways, creating immersive experiences that defy the conventional logic of film and video and evoke visceral sensations. Artists include Rachel Rossin and Jordan Wolfson. Further details of the programme will be announced in early 2018.

Josefine Reisch’s works seduce the viewer with haunted textures of the already seen. Working through traditional mediums such as tromp l'oeil painting, portraiture and textile, she creates moments of recognition. She questions the value and validity of European cultural heritage as she reassembles historical moments and figures into jumbled compositions, much like a musical medley. Engaging in a feminist reading of historiography her work triggers new readings and uncertainty within this dj-vu.
For her solo exhibition titled Celetoids Reisch reflects on how the depiction of female subjects create value, specifically linking two moments from across the centuries, Renaissance portraiture and contemporary selfie culture.

Rachel Maclean (b.1987, Edinburgh) has rapidly established herself as one of the most distinctive creative voices in the UK. Creating baroque, hyper-real worlds using green-screen video and computer animation, and playing many of the extravagantly costumed characters herself, Maclean spins razor-sharp fables that combine comedy and horror. Her work offers a powerful critique of contemporary society and its underlying fears and desires.

American artist Paul McCarthy is known for his provocative performances, multi-media installations, sculptures, and films. His work fuses high and low culture and corrupts conventionally innocent figures from myth, folklore and popular iconography. Religious or fairy tale characters are made perverse and perform taboo sex acts, creating a sharp, yet comical criticism of American mythology and accepted societal norms. McCarthy bombards the audience with a sensory overload, of sexual and violent imagery that often makes viewers feel uncomfortable and stirs controversy.
Commissioned and produced by Khora Contemporary and first presented at the Venice Biennale in 2017, C.S.S.C. Coach Stage Stage Coach revisits McCarthy ongoing series “Coach Stage Stage Coach,” and led to 11 variations of the piece in virtual reality.

In her 2017 virtual reality work, HanaHana 花華, Mousset collaborated with engineer Nam Baron to create a post-apocalyptic universe where users can teleport within an otherworldly landscape filled with monumental anthropomorphic ruins. The work is inspired by the Japanese manga series One Piece, in which character Nico Robin developed the power to endlessly reproduce her body parts after consuming the magic Hana Hana fruit (also called the devil fruit). In Mousset’s version, users can grow infinite chains of digital hands and build the architecture of their own world. The work is a playful, yet harrowing journey that explores the ongoing multiplication of our digital-selves and the possibility of extending it to the physical body. As the pharmacological capacity to technologically augment our bodies or even self-replicate becomes a contemporary reality, HanaHana 花華 provides a grotesque and beautiful experience questioning the implications on our mind, identity, body and senses
