May 7, 2017 to 12:00am talk/event
Inspired by Esser’s exhibition which explores the exotic ‘other’ landscape as defined through epic journeys, this workshop takes the idea of a boat voyage as its starting point. Imagine your own fantastical landscape through which your boat will sail by constructing, designing and decorating a unique boat using an array of materials.
Alexandra Hughes is studying a PhD in Practice-Based Research. University of Northumbria, Newcastle, and is an artist educator who has facilitated many family workshops at the foundation.

Parasolstice - Winter Light is an annual series inviting an artist to produce or exhibit a work which addresses the phenomenon of light. Robert Montgomery’s large-scale graphic light poem, installed on the outside terrace of the foundation responds to the particular geography and surrounding neighbourhood of Parasol unit. The poem encapsulates the theme of ‘the city as nature’.
